It looks like my female crew is coming together. I really like her work so I’m hoping she will be willing to work with me. I am also meeting with a cinematographer Anastasiya today to discuss my visions and see if she’s on board with the project. Although they are expensive, I am hoping that I can afford them when I get a budget together.Speaking of budget, I’ve teamed up with a production assistant Alicja to help set up a Indiegogo campaign and we will start that next week.
It’s made me realise that admin is probably 80% of pre-production.I’ve also started looking at potential locations and started sending enquiries about their prices. I’ve been up till the early hours of the morning replying to emails and queries.
This week I’ve been writing emails after emails, to actors for the casting, to crew members and CSM fashion students for a possible feature. Her work is absolutely amazing but unfortunately she won’t be available for the time I need her.Īfter collecting all the candidates emails, I sent them an email with a few more details and the date of the casting. I had been in contact with one female cinematographer whom I met on a networking app called Bumble. I also decided to start looking for possible crew since it might be difficult to find an all female crew. I’ve decided to do a Wes Anderson approach to creating a film by not creating a vivid plot and starting with my core characters. And once my job is approved on mandy i should get a nice variety of actors. I’ve already had a decent response from my instagram casting call. And with that information, I intend to experiment with dialogue.So today I decided to release a casting call on both instagram and, since I already have a vivid idea on characters. I learnt from a video that a really good scene is made up of conflict dialogue. I’d really like to get started on the script and finish it as soon as possible, however with my research going into how to write a good one and only trickles of dialogue coming through my head, I will probably have to make lots of drafts and experiments before creating the script.
After looking at an array of themes also, I landed on a theme (truth) that’s really started to shape a plot in my head. So I’ve begun my research and started watching more films which has begun to refine my thinking. I’ve been thinking of ideas for a film before this project began, I had something in mind a range of diverse female characters, but not really a plot.
